The language revitalization team have been working very hard for the community to process the available material so that curriculum and good learning tools can be developed.
The next meeting is scheduled for 3:00 pm on Monday February 28, 2011 at Mooretown Rancheria. If you are interested in being part of this vital community project please feel free to pop in to see how things are going. You can also post messages to this site with your concerns and ideas.
Send something that you would like to have made available for your local community to read and it will be posted. (Keep in mind that what you post should be written without derogatory language and should be positive.)
The Drafting of the plan to ready the languge collections for the next transition has been a really inspirational to say the least. This project looks to be very promising for the future of the Maiduan language in general. Many segways can be spun off of this ambitious endeavor and therein lies the magic of the medicine. I'd like to say thanks to everyone who has ever concerned themselves with this often overlooked science of endangered languages. Those who make the neccessary contributions to this field of work will always find blessings in the multitudes if one just looks hard enough. There is still much promise for our people that can be actualized. All you have to do is realize our collective potential is much greater than a fragmented one. Maidu Nation needs to BE.
